Iranian Official in Moscow for Talks on Nuclear Issue, Disarmament

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry's Director General for the Political and International Affairs Hamid Baeidinejad left Tehran for Moscow Wednesday to discuss Tehran’s nuclear energy program as well as disarmament issues.

The Iranian official is due to hold bilateral talks with Russian officials to coordinate Iran-Russia cooperation in negotiations between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UNSC members plus Germany) over the country's nuclear program.

They will study the latest status of nuclear talks and explore avenues for effective cooperation between the two countries in the talks.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are in talks to hammer out a final agreement to end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.

During his stay in Moscow, Baeidinejad plans to confer on significant disarmament issues including the upcoming Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) conference, and the way to pursue the creation of a zone free from nuclear (and other mass destruction) weapons in the Middle East.
