TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan is slated to take part in an upcoming international conference on security issues in the Russian capital of Moscow.
In a letter to Russian Defense Minister General Sergei Shoigu, Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan announced that he has accepted the Russian minister’s official invitation to participate in the conference.
He also described a recent trip by General Shoigu to Tehran as a “milestone” in relations between Iran and Russian.
The Iranian official also stressed the need to implement a previously signed military cooperation agreement between the two countries.
On January 20, the defense ministers of Iran and Russia signed the agreement after a meeting in Tehran.
The agreement also includes provisions that entail closer cooperation on “maintenance of regional and international peace, security and stability, and the fight against various types of terrorism, separatism and extremism.”
