Asian Men’s U-23 Volleyball Championship: Iran in Pool B

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iran has been pitted against Qatar, Philippines, Malaysia and India in Pool B of the Asian Men’s U-23 Volleyball Championship.

The nine-day championship will qualify two teams for the second FIVB Volleyball Men’s U-23 World Championship, which will take place in Dubai, the United Arabs Emirates (UAE) from August 24-31.

Nineteen teams have confirmed their participation in the inaugural competition due to be held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar from May 12-20, fivb.org wrote.

They include Australia, Afghanistan, China, Indonesia, India, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Philippines, Qatar, Thailand, Turkmenistan, Chinese Taipei and Vietnam.

Drawn alongside Myanmar in Pool A were Thailand, who finished eighth at the Asian Men’s Junior Championship, Afghanistan, Maldives and Saudi Arabia.

Pool B consists of Iran, Qatar, the Philippines, Malaysia and India.

Pool C includes China, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam, Turkmenistan and Australia, with Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Kazakhstan in Pool D.

The results of the first Asian Men’s U-23 Volleyball Championship draw are as follows:
Pool A: Myanmar, Thailand, Afghanistan, Maldives, Saudi Arabia
Pool B: Iran, Qatar, Philippines, Malaysia, India
Pool C: China, Chinese Taipei, Vietnam, Turkmenistan, Australia
Pool D: Korea, Japan, Indonesia, Kazakhstan
