Kerry Meets with Iran's Zarif as Nuclear Talks Continue in Geneva

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – US Secretary of State John Kerry on Sunday afternoon met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in the Swiss city of Geneva.

Kerry went to the hotel where Zarif is staying in order to hold talks with the Iranian top diplomat on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program.

The meeting is part of the bilateral nuclear talks between Tehran and Washington.

Iran and the US on Friday started a new round of bilateral nuclear negotiations in Geneva at the level of deputy foreign ministers.

Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi and US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz also joined the talks on Saturday.

Meanwhile, negotiators from Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are to hold a meeting in Geneva later today at the level of deputy foreign ministers.

The meeting is planned to start at 8pm local times.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as P5+1 and E3+3) are in talks to hammer out a final agreement to end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran’s civilian nuclear energy program.
