Iran’s Zarif, US’s Kerry Hold 2nd Meeting in Geneva

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and US Secretary of State John Kerry met this morning for the second time in two days in the Swiss city of Geneva for talks on Tehran’s peaceful nuclear program.

The high-profile meeting, held at Geneva’s Hotel President Wilson, saw other ranking officials from the two countries as well.

Ali Akbar Salehi, the director of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) and US Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz have also taken part in the meeting.

Deputy foreign ministers are also present in the meeting, including Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi from Iran and Wendy Sherman from the US.

Experts representing Iran, the US and the European Union have also held simultaneous talks in the Swiss city.

Zarif, Kerry, Salehi and Moniz already held a meeting on Sunday night.

A source in one of the Western delegations announced on Sunday that the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) is not going to hold any formal meeting on Monday.

Iran and the six nations are in talks to hammer out a final agreement to end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran’s nuclear energy program.
