Senegalese Diplomat Urges Closer Tehran-Dakar Ties
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The new ambassador of Senegal to Iran stressed the importance of efforts to deepen relations between the two countries in various areas, energy and automotive industries in particular.
“My main goal and mission is to (help) promote bilateral relations between the two countries,” the Senegalese diplomat said, during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran on Sunday.
He also expressed the hope that Tehran-Dakar cooperation, especially in the area of energy and automotive industries, would boost more than ever.
During the meeting, the Senegalese ambassador also submitted a copy of his credentials to the Iranian foreign minister.
Zarif, for his part, expressed optimism that relations between the two countries would be strengthened in the new envoy’s tenure.
Expansion of relations with African countries in all political, economic and cultural fields is top on the agenda of the Iranian foreign policy.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has repeatedly said that his government welcomes boosting relations with the African nations.
