Top IRGC Commander: Iran’s Borders Fully Secure

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour gave an assurance that the country’s borders are entirely secure.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Sunday, the commander stressed that all borderlines around the country are enjoying full security.

Since the outbreak of an armed rebellion in Iraq staged by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terrorist group, Iranian military officials have underlined the high level of safety along the western border areas, neighboring Iraq.

In the latest development along Iran's border regions, the IRGC Ground Force announced on Monday that it has disbanded a terrorist cell in the southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.

The terrorist team, affiliated with foreign espionage services, was disbanded on Monday morning in Qasr-e Qand and Nikshahr counties southeast of Iran in a decisive operation, the Quds Force’s public relations department said in a statement.

The operation was carried out after a series of reconnaissance and chasing operations in recent days, the statement said, adding that all members of the team were killed and a significant amount of weapons, ammunition and communication equipment were confiscated.
