Fajr Int’l Film Festival Receives 300 Films
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – 300 films have been received by the secretariat of the 33rd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF), the festival’s communication and information department announced.
The competitive section of the 33rd FIFF will be held in two sections of Islamic and Asian Countries' Cinema (East Panorama) and World Cinema (Salvation).
The non-competitive section, Art and Experience Award, consists of the screening of short films and documentaries, China contemporary cinema panorama, Turkey contemporary cinema panorama, special screening of the world cinema, Francesco Rosi: a committed critic, Iranians acclaimed filmmakers and Kiarostami’s workshops abroad.
Films from such countries as Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Britain, Ireland, USA, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, India, Japan, Tajikistan, Malaysia, Canada, Norway, Palestine, Bulgaria, The Netherlands, Scotland, Algeria, Afghanistan, Greece, Thailand, Argentina, Iraq, Sweden and Taiwan are to be screened in the festival.
Each section will have a jury board consisting of Iranian and non-Iranian jury members.
The jury will hand out five special awards in each competition section; Best Young Talent in Islamic and Asian Countries' Cinema section, Best Film with theme of unity of Islamic and Asian countries, Mustafa Akkad special award “Golden Flag”, Audience Award and Art and Experimental Cinema special award.
Films that use an eloquent artistic vision to promote a blissful human life will be considered for the competition section.
The festival prioritizes films with themes such as justice, peace, Islamic Awakening, anti-violence and anti-radicalism, ethical and religious values, transcendental lifestyles, anti-oppression, human and moral virtues, importance of family, cultural diversity and humanitarianism, etc.
The 33rd international FIFF will be held from April 24 to May 2 in Tehran. This is the first year that the international section of the festival is held separately from the national section.
