TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The 33rd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) enjoys a section to study Turkey's contemporary cinema in which 7-10 movies will be displayed and analyzed.

The final list of the films selected for screening in Turkish Cinema section and the country’s guests attending the 33rd Fajr International Film Festival is going to be finalized.

According to the Public Relations Office of the 33rd Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF), the festival studies the cinema of one country every year, and in this edition Turkish cinema will be analyzed in a section called “Turkish Cinema in Focus”.

7-10 films from Turkish cinema are predicted to be screened in the FIFF. All selected films are productions of 2014 and 2015, and will be studied and analyzed with filmmakers, critics, and experts of Iranian cinema, Turkish cinema, professionals and theoreticians of the international cinema in attendance.

The films will be considered in two panels under the title of “Situation of Turkish Cinema and Iran in the World and World of Islam” and “Common Points and Differences between Iranian and Turkish Cinema” in a seminar with presence of Iranian and Turkish cineastes.

A book and a magazine on Turkey’s cinema are being prepared to make the audiences more familiar with the country’s movie industry. The book is titled “Notes of Turkish Cinema” and it will be presented during the festival.

The book consists of four articles. In the first article, the history of Turkish cinema - from the beginning until the 1980s - is considered. In the second one, the concept of family in Turkish cinema is studied and the role of family is analyzed from both positive and negative point of view. The third article is about the process of production and the attitude of Turkish cinema. The fourth has a wider concept and that is what world cinema presents to its audiences.

Also a magazine on Turkish cinema is compiled, which includes the introduction of Turkish cineastes. It also has notes on the country’s cinema.

The 33rd Fajr International Film Festival will be held from April 25th to May 2nd 2015 in Tehran. This is the first year that the international section of FIFF is being held separately from the national section.
