Iran, Russia Urge Closer Scientific Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's vice-president for science and technology affairs and the visiting Russian president's adviser on education and science called for more efforts to promote Tehran-Moscow ties in the area of science and technology.

In a meeting in Tehran on Sunday, Iran's Sourena Sattari and Russia's Andrei Fursenko exchanged views on a host of issues, including ways to boost scientific cooperation.

The two officials also emphasized that the capacities of Iran and Russia should be utilized to deepen scientific relations between the two countries.

Heading a senior delegation, Fursenko arrived in Tehran on Sunday at the invitation of Sattari.

During his two-day visit, the Russian official plans to visit a number of scientific and industrial centers and meet with a number of high-ranking Iranian officials.

Back in October 2014, Sattari had stressed in Moscow that reciprocal visits by the high-ranking Iranian and Russian delegations signify the willingness of the two countries' officials for developing bilateral ties.
