Iranian, Kazakh Foreign Ministers Meet in Astana

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif on Monday met with his Kazakh counterpart in the capital city of Kazakhstan, Astana.

Zarif and Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrisov in this meeting discussed the latest developments in the region as well as international issues.

They both underscored the significance of reinforcing Tehran-Astana ties, and stressed the need for further expansion of mutual cooperation.

The Iranian minister arrived in Kazakhstan on Sunday for a two-day visit at the invitation of his Kazakh counterpart.

During the visit, Zarif is due to pursue the implementation of agreements previously reached between Tehran and Astana during the Iranian president's trip to Kazakhstan last year.

Kazakhstan and Iran are two of the five Caspian littoral states that also include Russia, the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan.
