Iranian Pilgrims in Iraq’s Kadhimiya in Good Health: Official
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization said no Iranian pilgrims were among the victims of a deadly terrorist bombing in Iraq’s Kadhimiya, north of Baghdad.
“None of the martyrs of the terrorist incident in Kadhimiya are Iranian pilgrims,” Head of Public Relations Office of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization Mehdi Shahsavari told the Tasnim News Agency on Wednesday.
He added that all of Iranian pilgrims are in good health.
Bombs exploded at about 7:30 pm local time on Tuesday near al-Nassir Square, killing 10 and injuring 18. Police sources said the explosions were caused by a suicide bomber and a car bomb. It is believed that Shiites on pilgrimage to the shrine of Imam Kadhim were targeted.
The attacks are the latest in a series targeting Shiite pilgrims in the city in recent days, where security has been stepped up.
On May 9, 14 were killed in a series of bombings in and around Baghdad.
