Iranian Nuclear Negotiator: Expert Talks Highly Intensive
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Head of the Iranian team of experts engaged in nuclear negotiations with six world powers said the expert talks, in progress for ten consecutive days in Austria, have become quite intensive.
Since ten days ago, experts in Vienna are working to a very tight schedule, even on all holidays, hold long daily sessions or prepare texts for the deputy-level meetings , Iranian Foreign Ministry's Director General for the Political and International Affairs Hamid Baeidinejad wrote in his Instagram page.
The range of the topics and the intensity of the issues discussed in the course of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are unprecedented in the modern history of diplomatic negotiations, he explained.
While experts are busy working on details of a comprehensive nuclear deal, top Iranian negotiators and deputies to foreign minister, Abbas Araqchi and Majid Takht Ravanchi, will go back to Vienna on coming Wednesday for another round of diplomatic sessions.
In recent weeks, the two senior Iranian diplomats have held several rounds of talks with European Union Deputy Foreign Policy Chief Helga Schmid.
The EU coordinates diplomacy with Iran on behalf of the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, France, US, Britain, and Germany).
Iran and the six powers are negotiating to hammer out a lasting accord that would end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran's civilian nuclear program.
On April 2, Iran and the sextet reached a framework nuclear agreement in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), until the end of June.
