Iranian Official Urges Riyadh to End Invasion of Yemen
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian reiterated his call for the cessation of Saudi attacks on Yemen, especially during the holy fasting month of Ramadan.
In a Wednesday meeting with Omani Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi in Muscat, capital of Oman, Amir Abdollahian called for an end to any foreign attack on the innocent people of Yemen.
He also hailed Muscat's "constructive" role and positions towards the developments in Yemen, particularly its cooperation in accelerating the dispatch of humanitarian aid to war-torn Yemen.
Bin Alawi, for his part, described the ongoing humanitarian situation in Yemen as "very deplorable", and urged for speeding up the delivery of aid to the Yemeni people.
Saudi Arabia's deadly air campaign against Yemen has continued unabated for over three months.
On March 26, Riyadh and some of its Arab allies began to launch deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to the fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
According to a civil coalition monitoring Saudi Arabia's crimes, 3043 people, including 722 children and 532 women, have been killed during 95 days of Saudi-led military strikes on the Arab country.
