Iran Ready to Launch Shipping Lines to Europe: Official
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran is prepared to set up shipping lines to Europe after implementation of the nuclear agreement reached between the country and six world powers, the head of Islamic Republic of Iran Shipping Lines (IRISL) announced.
The European Union has extended the suspension of sanctions related to IRISL for six months and "we are ready to launch regular shipping lines to the continent (Europe)," Mohammad Hossein Dajmar told the Tasnim News Agency.
In the beginning, "the administrative work" of bilateral trade with the EU members should be started and after the trades reach an adequate level, the shipping lines to Europe can be established, the official noted.
The European Union had imposed sanctions on shipping firms owned by IRISL over the unfounded accusation that Iran is pursuing non-civilian objectives in its nuclear energy program.
Some of the embargos were suspended later after Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) reached an interim nuclear agreement in Geneva, Switzerland, in late 2013.
After the Geneva Deal, the two sides continued their negotiations over Tehran's nuclear program for months.
The negotiating parties reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive deal on Tehran's nuclear program on Tuesday, July 14.
