American Activists Hold Anti-Zionism Rallies in Washington

WASHINGTON (Tasnim) – A group of American activists and organizations gathered in the US capital of Washington, DC, to voice their protest at the continued occupation of Palestine and the war-mongering policies of US administration stirred by Zionist lobbies.

The rally was mounted by the well-known grassroots activist group CodePink, with the collaboration of other notable organizations such as Jewish Voices for Peace, retired military personnel from Veterans for Peace and the diverse coalition called US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation.

Also in attendance were rabbis from the international orthodox Jewish congregation Neturei Karta, whose mission is the propagation and clarification of Torah Judaism.

Addressing the crowd, CodePink co-founder Medea Benjamin said that although the vast majority of Americans were adversely affected by the policies of the Zionist regime, the actions and financial support of a very few were responsible for the sustained pro-Israel message in the United States’ mainstream media.

Benjamin elaborated that although a growing number of Americans were questioning the use of American tax dollars for Israeli defense, organizations such as CUFI were directly responsible for spreading the false information that often leads the average American to the conclusion that Israel is the natural ally of Christian Americans and that war against Iran should be inevitable.

The hate-based, twisted version of Christianity taught by Hagee's group combined with financial support from a handful of hawkish millionaires form a powerful and perverted base, capable of broadcasting their counterfeit message to the American public, Benjamin added.

These millionaires continually work to produce advertisement campaigns that disregard any and all international crimes committed by the Zionist regime (the summer 2014 bombing of Gaza which left over 2000 dead, over a quarter of which were children; the continued expansion of illegal settlements; the seize and blockade of Gaza, including the murder of international flotilla crew members of the Mavi Mamara in 2010), while pointing the finger of blame at Israel’s victims whenever questions arise in the media, he went on to say.

The activists gathered at the event to present a fact-based, alternative perspective to the US legislative body. The grassroots organization CodePink, in particular, has been relentless in meeting with members of Congress to make them aware that the well-funded voices calling for war with Iran (or Iraq, or Afghanistan, or Yemen or Syria) do not speak for everyone.
