Poland Comes from Behind to Beat Iran in FIVB Volleyball World Cup
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Poland came behind to defeat Iran 3-2 (18-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-20, 15-11) in the first round of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup at the Hamamatsu Arena on Saturday.
Poland remained undefeated in the competition.
Bartosz Kurek top scored for Poland with 19 points, then Mateusz Mika and Michal Kubiak, who had a game-changing performance in the fourth and fifth sets, finished with 14 and 12 points, respectively.
Iran’s Amir Ghafour came up with 18 markers to lead all Iranian scorers.
The tournament is a qualification process for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The top two teams will qualify for the Olympics and join Brazil as it has already secured a berth as the host country.
The 2015 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Cup began on September 8 in Japan and will finish on September 23.
