JCPOA Not to Hamper Iran Nuclear Industry’s Progress: AEOI Chief

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi gave an assurance that a comprehensive nuclear deal between Tehran and major world powers would not slow down the country’s nuclear industry or bring it to a halt.

“The Iranian nation should rest assured that, technically speaking, the country’s nuclear industry will not face any slowdown or stoppage (as a result of JCPOA implementation,” Salehi said, according to ICANA.

Of course, certain limitations have been accepted in the course of the nuclear talks, the official noted.

However, he said, they are not going to impede the country’s progress in the nuclear field.

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) finalized the text of a lasting agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program in Vienna on July 14.

Dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the 159-page document has subjected the parties to comply with a series of commitments, resulting in the termination of sanctions on Iran in exchange for certain restrictions on Tehran’s nuclear program during a defined period of time.

Afterwards, the 15-memebr United Nations Security Council passed a resolution that endorsed the JCPOA.
