Iran Defeats Malaysia at AFC Women’s Futsal Championship
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran beat host Malaysia 4-2 at the 2015 AFC Women’s Futsal Championship on Wednesday.
Fahimeh Zarei opened the scoring for the Iranian futsal team in the first minute but Farahiyah Ridzuan drew the Malaysians level from the penalty spot in the 16th minute.
Sepideh Zarrinrad made it 2-1 in the 23rd minute and Fereshteh Karimi scored twice in the 27th and 29th minutes.
Ridzuan pulled a goal back in the 39th minute.
“We had a very good start but our players became too confident afterwards and this cost us the equalizer. We managed to control our game in the second half although we had moments were we lost our concentration and this is something we need to improve,” Iran coach Forouzan Soleymani said.
Iran will take on Thailand, while Malaysia face the Japan in the semi-final on Friday.
