Oscar-Winning Composer of Movie ‘Muhammad (PBUH)’ in Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Allah-Rakha Rahman, the acclaimed Indian composer of the Iranian film Muhammad (PBUH), the Messenger of God, the latest work by Majid Majidi, is in the Iranian city of Hamadan to attend a film festival.
The Oscar-winning composer arrived in Iran on Monday to attend a special screening of the biopic during the ongoing 29th International Festival of Films for Young Adults held in the central Iranian city of Hamadan.
Rahman will watch the movie along with its Italian editor Roberto Perpignani.
Earlier on Friday, Perpignani attended a screening of the epic movie about the Prophet of Islam at the Kurosh Complex in Tehran.
“I have a wonderful feeling about being in Iran today,” he said in a short speech before the screening of the film.
“I was involved in this project for a year. I liked working with Majidi and took pleasure in collaborating with him,” he added.
“I have the greatest respect for ‘Muhammad (PBUH)’ and I did my best for this special film,” stated Perpignani, who started his career in 1962 as an assistant editor in Orson Welles’ “The Trial”.
The film, which is the first part of Iran’s big-budget trilogy on the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), premiered in cinemas across Iran on August 26, and attracted a large number of audiences.
A number of internationally-acclaimed professionals, including Academy Award winning visual effects supervisor and filmmaker Scott E. Anderson, three-time Oscar-winning Italian director of photography Vittorio Storaro and renowned Croat production designer Milijen Kreka Kljakovic have also collaborated in making the film.
