Iranian Parliamentary Commission to Release Conclusion on JCPOA
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of the Iranian parliament’s Special Commission for Reviewing the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) announced that the commission has concluded its meetings and will release its report on the nuclear deal in the coming days.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Alireza Zakani said the special parliamentary commission has reached a conclusion over the finalized text of the recent nuclear agreement between Tehran and six world powers.
The commission’s initial report on the JCPOA has been prepared and will be submitted to the presiding board of the parliament on Saturday, the MP said.
ZaKani said the report will be read out in an open session of the parliament on Sunday.
The report features various topics of the JCPOA, including legal affairs, economic sanctions, defense, security, nuclear issues, research and development, culture, politics, and society, he went on to say.
Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion on a lasting nuclear agreement- known as the JCPOA- that would terminate all sanctions imposed on Tehran over its nuclear energy program after coming into force.
The 159-page deal has its own opponents and proponents both in Iran and the other countries that are parties to the JCPOA, particularly the US.
