Iran’s Zarif Sees ‘Very Bright Future’ for Tehran-Tokyo Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif predicted a bright future for the relations between the Islamic Republic and Japan.

“I feel that there is a very bright future for the relations between the two countries,” Zarif said in a joint press conference with his Japanese counterpart, Fumio Kishida, held in the Iranian capital on Monday.

“We had very good talks over promotion of Iran- Japan relations” particularly in the era after the removal of anti-Tehran sanctions, the Iranian top diplomat further said of his meeting with Kishida earlier today.

The Japanese foreign minister is in Tehran at the head of a 23-strong delegation, comprising directors of major Japanese companies, to hold talks with top Iranian officials on bilateral ties and trade cooperation.

This is the second official visit by the Japanese minister to the Islamic Republic over the past two years.

The visit comes against the backdrop of a new wave of renewed interest in ties with Iran after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14 reached a conclusion over the text of a comprehensive 159-page deal on Tehran's nuclear program.

The comprehensive nuclear deal would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.

Experts believe that Iran’s economic growth would rise remarkably after the final nuclear deal takes effect.
