Scottish Delegation to Visit Tehran for Business Talks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Scottish National Party's (SNP) Alex Salmond announced on Saturday that he plans to lead a delegation of business leaders to Tehran shortly to explore opportunities for cooperation with Iran following the July 14 nuclear deal between the Islamic Republic and world powers.
"This is not just a good opportunity. It's an unambiguously great one. Scotland has much to offer. Benefits can flow both directions," Salmond said, referring to the nuclear deal.
He was addressing an audience on the fringe of the SNP conference in Aberdeen.
Salmond said he will take a delegation of Scottish business leaders to Tehran in the near future to promote cooperation with Iran in various fields, including agricultural technology.
He also said Scottish expertise in digitally mapping archaeological sites could one day be of interest to Iran.
Following the conclusion of nuclear talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, business executives and politicians from different countries are shuttling to Iran to lay the groundwork for investment and trade.
The comprehensive nuclear deal would terminate all nuclear-related sanctions imposed on Iran after coming into force.
