Three People Hurt in Shooting at Tennessee College Campus: Authorities

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Three people were shot and wounded late on Thursday on the campus of Tennessee State University in Nashville, city officials said.

The three individuals were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and their conditions were not immediately known, said Tanya Stone, operations supervisor for the Metro Nashville emergency communication centre, Reuters reported on Friday.

The Tennessean newspaper reported one person was critically wounded. Fox affiliate WZTV reported that students might have been involved.

The university police would not confirm a shooting had taken place on campus. The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department did not immediately respond to a phone call seeking comment.

Three people were shot and wounded during a large house party near the Tennessee State University campus last week.

The incidents come amid a string of gun violence at or near several US schools in October, including deadly incidents on the campus of Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and adjacent to Texas Southern University in Houston.

On Oct. 1, a heavily-armed gunman killed nine people at a community college in Oregon, ranking it among the deadliest of dozens of US mass shootings in the past two years.
