Iran, Hungary to Expand Scientific Cooperation in Agriculture
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian and Hungarian officials decided to establish a joint committee to enhance scientific cooperation on the agricultural fields, including the exchange of technological know-how in water management.
The idea of formation of the “joint committee on scientific and technological cooperation” was proposed in a meeting between Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Affairs Sorena Sattari and Hungary’s Minister of Agriculture Sandor Fazekas, held in Budapest on Friday night.
The committee is set to promote cooperation in agriculture, fishery and environmental studies, forestry, veterinary medicine and water management techniques.
It will also pave the way for the two countries’ private sectors to make investment in watershed management plans.
While Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) secured a deal on Tehran’s nuclear program in July, more foreign companies are impatient to seize the opportunity of investing in Iran's lucrative market as soon as the sanctions are terminated.
Back in May, Polish Undersecretary of State Katarzyna Kacperczyk also expressed the European country’s willingness to expand agricultural cooperation with Iran and have easier access to Iran's market.
She said Poland is ready to share its experience with Iran in food production, agricultural modernization and food storage industry.
