FIFA Confirms Iran, Macedonia Friendly in Austria
TEHRAN (Tasnim) - FIFA has confirmed that Iran’s friendly with Macedonia will be held in Austria on June 2.
Carlos Queiroz’s men, who almost qualified for the 2018 World Cup qualifications third round, are scheduled to play the European minnow as part of their preparation for the competition.
Iran is the highest Asian ranked nation in the latest world ranking and 45th in FIFA rankings and Macedonia sits at 136th place.
Norway has also negotiated with the Iranian football federation for a friendly.
Iran defeated Chile 2-0 in a friendly in Austria in late March 2015.
