Several Sydney Schools in Lockdown Over Threats
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Australian police launched a security operation on Monday after several schools in Sydney received unspecified threats, prompting a lockdown.
"As a precaution, a police operation is underway at a number of schools across Sydney," New South Wales Police Department said.
Police confirmed in a media release that they were aware of numerous threats to schools in the Sydney Metropolitan Region, Sputnik News reported.
Law enforcers said they were liaising with the Australian Department of Education as part of the ongoing investigation. Making threats is a serious criminal offense, police stressed, vowing to bring those responsible to justice.
