Russia's President Putin Urges Closer Iran Ties
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized the need for the promotion of cooperation between Moscow and Tehran in all fields.
Ali Akbar Velayati, an international adviser to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, met with the Russian president in Moscow on Wednesday evening.
During the meeting, Putin expressed satisfaction with the expansion of strategic relations between Iran and Russia.
The Russian president also called for the employment of all capacities to help strengthen mutual cooperation in all arenas.
For his part, Velayati said the path of strategic ties between Iran and Russia is irreversible, making a reference to Ayatollah Khamenei’s view on the East and a push for the enhancement of relations with Russia.
He also noted that closer cooperation between the two nations will contribute to the regional and international peace and stability.
Velayati travelled to Moscow for talks with top Russian officials on the latest developments in the region and coordination of policies on Syria.
The Iranian envoy held meetings with several top Russian officials and attended a number of gatherings, including a Wednesday conference on Iran-Russia cooperation.
