Iranian, Turkish Presidents to Meet in Spring: Report
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will visit Ankara and hold talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan this spring, media reports said on Thursday.
“It has been decided that President Rouhani will visit Turkey in the middle of spring to meet with President Ergodan,” Sputnik quoted an unnamed Iranian source as saying on Thursday.
Last week, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu paid an official visit to Iran and held talks with the country’s senior officials on various issues, including ways to deepen bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries.
Heading a high-ranking delegation, the Turkish prime minister arrived in Tehran on March 4 and was officially welcomed by Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri.
Despite their differences, Turkey and Iran have largely maintained cordial diplomatic relations.
Davutoglu’s trip to Iran was the first high-level state visit since President Recep Tayyip Erdogan traveled to the country in April 2015.
