Iranian Navy Launches 2,000-Ton Floating Dock

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A 2,000-ton domestically-made floating dock joined the Iranian Navy’s fleet off the coast of the northern port city of Bandar Anzali on Thursday.

The huge floating dock was launched in a ceremony in Bandar Anzali with Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan and Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari in attendance.

It has been designed and constructed by domestic experts at the Marine Industries Organization of the Defense Ministry.

Floating docks are used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of ships, boats, and other water craft.

They can also be applied for launching different types of vessels.

Iran has in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of military equipment, including the air defense systems that use cutting edge technologies.

Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military might is defensive in nature and poses no threat to other countries.
