Iran to Receive 2nd Batch of S-300 Defense System Soon: Report

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran will take delivery of the second batch of Russia’s S-300 surface-to-air missile defense system in the not too distant future, a report said.

The Russian government reportedly plans to deliver the second consignment of the S-300 defense system to Iran in the near future, a report said.

Back in February, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan said, under a contract signed between Iran and Russia, the missile system will be delivered to Iran in two parts.

Iran took delivery of the first consignment of the defense system in mid-April.

On April 17, Iran displayed part of the Russian-made S-300 air defense missile system in a military parade in Tehran, held to mark the National Army Day.

The gear unveiled in the ceremony included 2 radar systems of S-300, its carrier and command vehicles as well as the crane for lifting its missiles.

Iran has been long waiting to receive the air defense missile system it had purchased from Russia in 2007.
