WASHINGTON, D.C. (Tasnim) – A huge number of people staged rallies in the US capital of Washington to voice their outrage at police brutality against people of color and minorities, including the recent deadly shootings of Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Louisiana.

According to Tasnim dispatches, the demonstrations were held in front of the White house and the headquarters of the US Department of Justice in Washington on Friday and Thursday.

The protesters chanted slogans and held various placards reading “Black Lives Matter” and “Justice Equity for Black People”, among others.

Philando Castile, 32, was shot dead by a police officer after reportedly being pulled over for a broken tail light in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, on Wednesday.

He was shown bleeding in his car in a graphic video shot by his girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds.

The shooting came a day after police in Louisiana executed an unarmed 37-year old Black man named Alton Sterling. At least 560 people have been killed by US police this year, according to reports, the majority of them people of color.
