Syrian Army Liberates More Areas near Damascus
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Syrian military forces recaptured a number of residential areas in Darayya, southwest of capital Damascus, from terrorist groups.
According to Tasnim dispatches, the military operation by the Syrian troops led to the liberation of condominium complexes in the areas in south and west of Damascus.
Getting stuck at Darayya after suffering heavy losses, the militants have asked the other terrorist groups for help.
According to reports, a terrorist group known as the Islamic Council of Syria, has called on the member of other terrorist groups in Eastern Ghouta and southern suburbs of Damascus to rush to help those surrounded by the Syrian Army in Darayya.
For more than five years, Syria has been grappling with a civil war, with numerous opposition factions and extremist groups fighting government forces in an effort to topple the government of Syrian President Bashar Assad.
Estimates show that more than 260,000 people have been killed and millions displaced in Syria since March 2011.
