Blaze at Iranian Petchem Plant Extinguished

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Firemen put out a fire at a petrochemical complex in Iran’s southwestern port of Bandar Imam Khomeini on Sunday.

The fire was brought under control this morning after hours of efforts by the firefighters.

A depot of the BDSR unit in the plant caught fire on Saturday evening, causing thick smoke to billow out of the unit, which was filled with material used for producing rubber.

It marked the third incident in the country’s petrochemical factories over the past few weeks.

In late July, a fire broke out at a storage tank in Bistoon Petrochemical Complex in Iran’s western province of Kermanshah. The plant returned to service in less than 24 hours.

They follow the most serious incident in the history of Iran’s petrochemical industry in July, when an inferno broke out at Bu Ali Sina Petrochemical Refinery Complex in Mahshahr and raged at a giant storage tank for more than two days.
