India’s Crude Imports from Iran Reach Highest Level in 5 Years: Report

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – India’s oil imports from Iran rose to its highest level in five years in July, a report said.

India's July oil imports from Iran climbed to over 500,000 barrels per day (bpd), revised tanker arrival data obtained from trade sources show, Reuters reported on Monday.

The imports showed an increase of 37 percent from June and more than double from a year ago, the data showed.

India's oil imports from Iran have been consistently rising since the lifting of anti-Tehran sanctions earlier this year.

The sanctions were lifted after Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) on July 14, 2015 reached an agreement on Iran’s peaceful nuclear program and started implementing it on January 16.
