Iran Slams String of Terrorist Attacks in Turkey
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi strongly condemned a series of terror attacks across Turkey, in which several people were killed and injured.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns use of force and any acts of violence and terror in any form and anywhere (in the world),” Qassemi said on Thursday.
He added that Iran deplores the killing of innocent people as a “crime against humanity".
His remarks came after two policemen and a civilian were killed in car bombing on Wednesday night in Van, a city in eastern Turkey.
On Thursday, three more police officers were killed in another assault on the police headquarters in the eastern city of Elazig.
Later in the day, three soldiers and a local guard were also killed in an attack on a Turkish military convoy in the town of Bitlis in the country's troubled southeast.
The Iranian foreign ministry spokesman further urged the governments and nations in the region to exercise vigilance in the face such “acts of sabotage”, saying certain powers are trying to make the region insecure and unstable in an attempt to help terrorists reach their “inhumane goals”.
