Sweden Eager to Invest in Iran’s ICT Sector
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Swedish Minister of Housing and Digital Development Peter Eriksson expressed his country’s enthusiasm for more active presence in Iran’s information and communications technology (ICT) market in the post-sanctions era.
In a meeting with Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi in Stockholm on Thursday, Eriksson voiced support for Swedish investment in various fields in Iran, as in energy, transportation and communication sectors and other industries.
He said Sweden has always had a “positive view” of Iran and respect for it.
With the anti-Iran sanctions lifted under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a lasting nuclear deal between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), Sweden is willing to play a more active role in Iran’s ICT market, Eriksson added.
For his part, the Iranian minister said Tehran seeks to learn from Sweden’s experience in digital technologies and use the European country’s expertise for joint production and investment in Iran.
Vaezi also hailed the idea of closer interaction between the two nations’ scientific and academic centers.
The promising prospect of trade with Iran after coming into force of the JCPOA has prompted major European countries to explore the market potential in the populous Middle East nation.
