Peking University to Admit More Iranian Students: President
BEIJING (Tasnim) – President of Peking University, a leading Chinese center with a history of around 120 years of academic activities, unveiled plans to attract more students from the Middle East, particularly from Iran.
Peking University pursues a new policy of admitting more students from the Middle East and Central Asia, especially from Iran, Lin Jianhua said at a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in Beijing on Tuesday, according to Tasnim dispatches.
He also voiced the university’s willingness to cooperate with Iranian scientific and cultural institutions, saying such collaborations could contribute to the promotion of oriental culture.
Zarif, for his part, voiced Iran’s readiness to enhance academic and cultural ties with China, saying universities of the two countries can work together on a range of issues, such as joint research programs and technological collaboration.
With Iran and China’s significant scientific and educational progress, there are abundant opportunities for mutual cooperation, the foreign minister added.
Zarif, who is in China as part of an Asian tour, delivered a speech to Peking University after the meeting with Jianhua, outlining Iran’s stances on world issues.
Heading a mainly trade delegation, the top Iranian diplomat is in China on the second leg of an Asian tour that took him earlier to India for the 6th conference of the ‘Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process’.
He will travel to Japan afterwards.
