Air Defense Exercise Planned in Iran’s Southern Provinces

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Air Defense will begin a large-scale exercise in the country’s southern areas on Monday.

Speaking at a press conference in the southern port city of Bushehr on Sunday, Air Defense Commander Brigadier General Farzad Esmaili said the extensive drill, code-named Defenders of Velayat Skies 7, will last for five days.

According to the commander, the exercise will cover the provinces of Hormozgan, Bushehr and Khuzestan.

Various Air Defense units and the Air Force fighter jets are planned to take part in the war game, he added.

Iran’s Air Defense holds routine military exercises throughout the year. The country’s integrated air defense network protects 3,700 sensitive sites across the country, including nuclear facilities.
