IRGC Ground Force Stages War-Game West of Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour announced that his forces have begun military exercises in western parts of Iran.
The military drills code-named “Imam Ali (AS)” started today and will last for four days in western areas of the country, Brigadier General Pakpour said on Monday.
He said improvement of military capabilities of the IRGC Ground Force and development of new methods of warfare are among the main objectives of the exercises.
Enhancement of the intelligence and operational preparedness of the IRGC units is another goal of the war-game, the commander said.
Iran’s Armed Forces hold routine military exercises throughout the year.
The Islamic Republic has repeatedly assured other nations, especially its neighbors, that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
