Iran Loses to Italy in FIVB Volleyball World League Opener
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran started off the 2017 FIVB Volleyball World League campaign with a loss to Italy Friday night.
Igor Kolakovic’s men were defeated against Italy 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-22) in Pesaro, Italy.
Since 2013, Italy and Iran have met nine times in the World League and this was the sixth win for the European side.
In the other match in the same group, Poland defeated Brazil 3-2 (25-20, 20-25, 19-25, 25-22, 15-8) in Italian town Pesaro.
Iran has been scheduled to meet Brazil Saturday night in Pool A1 Group One while Italy face Poland.
The 2017 Group One finals are due to take place in Brazilian city Curitiba from July 4 to 8.
