Leader: Further Hate for US, Saudi Gov’ts Net Result of Tehran Attacks
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Friday offered condolences over the deaths of a number of Iranian people in twin terrorist attacks in Tehran and said that “the conclusive result” of the incidents is nothing but more hate for Washington and Riyadh.
In a message, Ayatollah Khamenei denounced the Terrorist attacks in the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, and the Iranian parliament as “a clear sign of the evil hostility of the stooges of the arrogant (powers) toward the dignified Iranian nation and whatever related to the Islamic Revolution and Establishment and its late leader".
“Such crimes that indicate wickedness and at the same time humility of their agents, instigators, and perpetrators are too minor to undermine the determination of the Iranian nation,” the Leader noted.
“The conclusive result of these (attacks) is nothing but more hatred for the US government and its stooges in the region, like the Saudi regime,” the Leader added.
On Wednesday morning, five terrorists launched simultaneous attacks on Iran’s parliament building in downtown Tehran and on the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, south of the city.
The assailants attacked the parliament buildings in the morning. Equipped with AK-47 assault rifles, handguns, grenades and suicide vests, the gunmen killed security guards and ordinary people before holding people hostage in the upper floors of the building.
They were all killed by the security forces after an operation that took several hours.
In the other attack at the shrine of Imam Khomeini, one suicide bomber blew himself up while the second one was killed in an exchange of gunfire.
The death toll from Wednesday's incidents in Tehran grew to 17, while more than 40 others have been wounded.
