Iran’s Judiciary Chief Slams US Reaction to Tehran Terror Attacks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani described Washington’s reaction to last week’s terrorist attacks in Tehran as an obvious sign of US support for terrorism and a disgrace for a government that claims to be fighting against terrorism.

“Fortunately, the US and its regional stooges showed their true colors more than ever and it was proved that those who support terrorism and perform sword dance are international Daesh,” Ayatollah Amoli Larijani said Monday at a meeting of high-ranking judiciary officials.

He denounced the White House reaction to the terror attacks as an obvious sign of Washington’s support for terrorism and said such stances are a disgrace for governments that claim to be advocating human rights and fighting against terrorism.

Ayatollah Amoli Larijani stressed that Iran’s conduct in the fight against terrorism in known to everyone, but the hegemonic powers and their allies in the region have made up a big lie about forming a coalition against Daesh while they provide all-out support for the terrorist group.

Terrorists launched simultaneous attacks on Iran’s parliament building in downtown Tehran and on the mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini, south of the city, on Wednesday morning.

The Daesh (ISIL) terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attacks, which killed 17 people and wounded more than 40.

While condemnations of the attacks poured in from around the world, US President Donald Trump refused to denounce the terror attacks and instead accused Iran of supporting terrorism.

“We grieve and pray for the innocent victims of the terrorist attacks in Iran, and for the Iranian people, who are going through such challenging times,” Trump said after the attacks. “We underscore that states that sponsor terrorism risk falling victim to the evil they promote.”

Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also condemned as “repugnant” Trump’s response to the twin terror attacks.

“Repugnant WH statement & Senate sanctions as Iranians counter terror backed by US clients,” Zarif tweeted. “Iranian people reject such US claims of friendship.”
