IRGC Forces Kill Terrorist Ringleader in Southeast Iran
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force managed to kill a terrorist ringleader in the southeastern province of Sistan and Balouchestan.
In a recent anti-terror operation in Qasr-e Qand heights in Sistan and Balouchestan, the IRGC forces killed Jalil Qanbarzehi, a leader of the Ansar al-Furqan terrorist group.
In the clashes between Ansar al-Furqan militants and IRGC forces in the district over the past few days, a large number of the terrorist group’s members have been killed.
The clashes were part of anti-terror operations across the country after Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorists launched simultaneous attacks on Iran’s parliament building in downtown Tehran and on the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, south of the city, on June 7, in which 17 people were killed and more than 40 others were wounded.
The assailants attacked the parliament buildings in the morning. Equipped with AK-47 assault rifles, handguns, grenades and suicide vests, the gunmen killed security guards and ordinary people before holding people hostage in the upper floors of the building.
They were all killed by the security forces after an operation that took several hours.
In the other attack at the shrine of Imam Khomeini, one suicide bomber blew himself up while the second one was killed in an exchange of gunfire.
