Iran’s Giti Pasand Earns Second Win at AFC Futsal Club Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Sanaye Giti Pasand of Iran defeated Japan’s Shriker Osaka 3-2 in its final AFC Futsal Club Championship Vietnam 2017 group match on Monday.

The Iranian futsal team had already defeated China’s Shenzhen Nanjing 7-0 in the tournament’s Group C.

Giti Pasand now awaits the runner-up from Group D in the quarter-final. Second-placed Shriker will battle the Group D winner, with both matches on Thursday.

"The Japanese team came here with nothing to lose. It was a high risk game with the pressure on us to deliver and I am happy with my players’ performance. We kept our composure throughout.  We ran well, we cooperated and we defended as a team. We deserve our victory against a very good team,” Sanaye Giti Pasand  coach Alireza Afzal said.

The 2017 AFC Futsal Club Championship is the 8th edition of the AFC Futsal Club Championship, the annual Asian futsal club championship organized by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

The tournament is being held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from July 20 to 30.
