Syria Demands UN to Condemn US-Led Coalition for Killing Civilians
TEHRAN(Tasnim) - The Syrian Foreign Ministry said that Syrian authorities have sent letters to the UN Security Council and the UN secretary general demanding to condemn the actions of the international coalition led by the United States that have resulted in deaths of civilians.
They sent letters to the UN Security Council and the UN secretary general demanding to condemn the actions of the coalition resulting in deaths of civilians, the Syrian Foreign Ministry said Wednesday, Sputnik reported.
"The international coalition is killing civilians and destroying the infrastructure that the Syrian people built in blood and sweat," the ministry's statement said.
Last week, Syria's state-run SANA news agency reported several US-led coalitions' airstrikes in the north-eastern Syrian province of Deir ez-Zur had claimed lives of more than 30 civilians, with at least 16 of them killed over the weekend only.
According to media reports, on June 28, the US-led coalition's planes attacked Al Mayadin and the nearby village of Dablan, killing 90 civilians, including women and children.
The US-led coalition of 68 nations has been conducting airstrikes in Syria and Iraq since 2014. The strikes in Syria are not authorized by the government of President Bashar Assad or the UN Security Council.
