Iran, Belarus Stress Close Banking Ties

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Speaker of Council of the Republic of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich emphasized plans to ease banking interaction between Tehran and Minsk as a prerequisite of stronger trade ties.

The first step to broaden economic relations between Iran and Belarus is to establish proper banking ties, President Rouhani said in a meeting with Myasnikovich in Tehran on Sunday.

He also highlighted the suitable grounds for industrial cooperation between the two countries.

The visiting Belarusian speaker, for his part, said the two sides can promote cooperation in various fields, as in the oil industry, auto-making, and trade exchange.

Tehran and Minsk need to employ modern banking systems to enhance their cooperation, he added.

Myasnikovich represented Belarus in President Rouhani’s swearing-in ceremony on Saturday.
