Former Yemeni President Rejects Saudi Allegations of Iran Support for Party

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Leader of the Yemen’s General People's Congress (GPC) party rejected allegations raised by Saudi-led coalition about Iran's support for the Yemeni forces and his own party.

“Present us a killed or captive Iranian national… or an Iranian made missile or an Iranian airplane (to convince us) to accept the responsibility,” the GPC affiliated Al Motamar Net daily quoted Ali Abdullah Saleh.

Former Yemeni president urged the Saudi led coalition to settle its dispute with Iran somewhere else out of Yemen.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he referred to Morocco withdrawal from the Saudi led coalition and predicted withdrawal of another two countries from it.

Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the Saudi-led coalition for more than two years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.

Since March 25, 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.

Over 12,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
