Iran Beaten by India at FIBA U-16 Women's Asian Championship
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran lost to host India 97-53 at the FIBA U-16 Women's Asian Championship 2017 on Tuesday.
Vaishnavi Yadav unloaded 29 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals in a scintillating display for India, while Maryam Shirazi topped the scoring for Iran with 12 points.
The Iranian team, who had defeated Nepal 89-32 in its opening match in Group A, will face Sri Lanka on Wednesday.
Iran has been drawn in Group A of the competition’s Division B with Nepal, India and Sri Lanka.
Group B consists of Malaysia, Kazakhstan and the Maldives.
China, Japan, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, Thailand, Australia and New Zealand are in Division A.
The Iranian U-16 team is headed by Elahe Darestani.
The 5th edition of the FIBA U-16 Women's Asian Championship takes place in the Indian city of Bengaluru from 22-28 October.
