Iran’s UN Envoy Urges Destruction of All Nuclear Weapons
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran's Ambassador to the United Nations Gholam Ali Khoshroo renewed the country's call for the total eradication of nuclear weapons.
Khoshroo, addressing a meeting of the UN General Assembly to study the annual report of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Thursday, said that the ICJ is playing a key role in the peaceful settlement of disputes.
The Iranian envoy, speaking on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement, added that NAM urges UN institutions to consult the Court about their legal issues.
Referring to the ICJ consultative vote on the illegitimacy of any threat or use of nuclear weapons, he called for the destruction of all nuclear weapons across the globe.
Elsewhere in his speech, Khoshroo said the International Court of Justice can help end Israel's half-century occupation of the Palestinian territories.
